  • Bangladesh National Museum

    45 minsAdmission Ticket Included
The museum was established in 1913 and is a four-storied building with forty galleries under its 4 departments: Natural History, History and Classical Art, Ethnography and Decorative Art, and Contemporary Art and World Civilization. Note: Thursday closed.
  • University of Dhaka

The University of Dhaka is the oldest university in modern Bangladesh. Established during the British Raj in 1921, it gained a reputation as the “Oxford of the East” and has been a significant contributor to the modern history of Bangladesh. After the partition of India, it became the focal point of progressive and democratic movements in Pakistan. Its students and teachers played a central role in the rise of Bengali nationalism and the independence of Bangladesh.
  • Shahid Minar

    20 minsAdmission Ticket Free
Symbol of Bengali nationalism, this monument was built to commemorate the martyrs of the historic Language Movement of 1952 (the only language movement in world history). Hundreds of thousands of people with floral wreaths and bouquets gather on 21 February every year to pay respect in a solemn atmosphere. Celebrations begin at midnight. In recognition of the language movement, the UN declared 21 February as International Mother Language Day in 1999, which is observed all over the world every year.
  • Dhakeshwari Temple

    30 minsAdmission Ticket Free
Dhakeshwari Temple is the national Hindu temple of Bangladesh. It is state-owned, giving it the distinction of being the country’s “National Temple”. The name “Dhakeshwari” means “Goddess of Dhaka”, and the temple is considered the most important Hindu place of worship in Bangladesh. Originally built in the medieval era during the Sena Dynasty (12th century CE) by King Ballal Sen, many say the city was named after this temple. Though the architecture has changed through numerous repairs, it remains an essential part of Dhaka’s cultural heritage and is believed by some researchers to be one of the Shakti Peethas.
  • Lalbag Fort

    45 minsAdmission Ticket Included
No trip to Dhaka is complete without visiting Lalbagh Fort, also known as the Fort of Auranagabad, built in 1678 AD during Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb’s reign. This beautiful fort represents the unfinished dream of a Mughal prince, giving the whole complex a sense of history and mystery. Note: Sunday closed.
  • Star Mosque (Tara Masjid)

    25 minsAdmission Ticket Free
One of the most beautiful mosques from the Mughal era, this exquisite white marble structure is superbly decorated with engraved floral and star patterns. • Armenian Church of the Holy Resurrection

    30 minsAdmission Ticket Free
In the 17th and 18th centuries, there was a strong Armenian presence in Dhaka. After Persians conquered Eastern Armenia, many Armenian traders were relocated and eventually came to Bengal, establishing a trading community recognized by the Mughal government. They traded textiles, jute, and leather, and their colony in Dhaka is still known as Armanitola. The Armenian Church in Dhaka bears testimony to this once significant community, although it is now largely abandoned.
