The Candelaria Caves were discovered in 1974. They used to be a sacred place for the Mayan Q'eqchi' people of the region and nowadays it is a sanctuary for flora and fauna, and it has been declared a National Park. The caves are surrounded by lots of greenery and hills which are home to hundreds of animals. During this breathtaking adventure, we´ll walk down to the infraworld as the Mayans used to believe. Proof of that is all the numerous architectural elements that were discovered such as walls, stairs, platforms, cornices, and graphic representations engraved on stones, among others, in addition to some ceramic items and artifacts found in them.
