Suigou Yanagawa River Cruise
Located about an hour's drive from central Fukuoka, Yanagawa is a water town
crisscrossed by a 60-kilometer canal network spanning a 2-square-kilometer
area. The highlight of sightseeing in Yanagawa is a relaxing "river cruise"
aboard a traditional donko-bune (traditional punt). As you drift along the
canals for about an hour, covering roughly 3 kilometers, you can enjoy the
boatman’s songs and commentary while taking in the gentle sounds of the water.
With around 200 donko-bune operating throughout the town, you’ll see boats
gliding by and boatmen tending to their vessels. From December to February,
kotatsu-bune (boats equipped with heated tables) are also available, letting
you enjoy the winter scenery in comfort

- Important Info -
Every year, there is a "Water Drainage Period" when the water in the canals is drained for maintenance. For 2025, this period will occur from 4:00 pm on February 12 to the end of the day on February 2. During the Water Drainage Period, the section of the river beyond the sluice gate on the downstream course will be unavailable.
As a result, the route will be shortened to a round-trip course of
approximately 30 minutes, departing from the Shimohyakucho boarding area,
traveling to the sluice gate, and returning to the same dock.
The pricing will remain the same despite the shorter route. If this is
acceptable to you, we are happy to proceed with your reservation
Summer Season Course: July 5 (Sat) - September 21 (Sun)
Summer Season Course: "Shimohyaku-cho ~ Amenbo Center ~ Shimohyaku-cho",

For customers heading to Ohana, a free shuttle service to the front of Ohana
(Ohanamae) is available after disembarkation.
A free bus service is also available for your return from the front of Ohana
