Highlights

This longer day-trip is designed to allow you to see the Buddhist island's largest group of rock-cut statues. On the way back, you can take part in a jeep safari in southern Sri Lanka's famous Udawalawe National Park.

  • Buduruwagala Temple

    Buduruwagala is famous for the largest ancient Buddha statue in Sri Lanka. Even more beautiful are the six rock-cut sculptures at both sides of the central statue. Remarkably, they show features of Mahayana Buddhism and even Tantrism, which is rarely seen in Sri Lanka.

  • Udawalawe National Park

    3 hoursAdmission Ticket Not Included
    First and foremost, Udawalawe National Park is famous for wild elephants. Small groups of cow elephants with babies and juveniles can be seen throughout the year in this wildlife area. Bull elephants, some of them tuskers, can be seen as loners or in very small groups of juveniles at the shores of the large lake.
