Mikumi National Park abuts the northern border of Africa’s biggest game reserve - the Selous – and is transacted by the surfaced road between Dar es Salaam and Iringa. It is thus the most accessible part of a 75,000 square kilometre (47,000 square mile) tract of wilderness that stretches east almost as far as the Indian Ocean. The open horizons and abundant wildlife of the Mkata Floodplain, the popular centrepiece of Mikumi, draw frequent comparisons to the more famous Serengeti Plains. Lions survey their grassy kingdom – and the zebra, wildebeest, impala and buffalo herds that migrate across it – from the flattened tops of termite mounds, or sometimes, during the rains, from perches high in the trees. Giraffes forage in the isolated acacia stands that fringe the Mkata River, islets of shade favoured also by Mikumi’s elephants.
Itinerary
On this day you will meet our driver ( 8am) at your Hotel/Home in stone town to transfer to the Airport for your flight to Mikumi National Park, the flight leaves Zanzibar 9:30am. This flight will take around 2 hours to arrive in Mikumi National Park, this means you will arrive around 11:55am where you will meet your driver guide at Mikumi Airstrip and proceed for a game drive which will go till sunset with stops for hot lunch at 1pm.

DAY TWO: HALF DAY GAME DRIVE AND TAKE YOUR FLIGHT BACK TO ZANZIBAR
On this day early morning 6:30am you will meet your driver and go for a morning game drive. This is recommended time since there is possibility to see a lot before the sun is strong. You will have a break for a hot breakfast around 9am then go for another game drive till 13pm where you will come back for your hot lunch. Lunch will be for only 30 minutes and then you will be dropped at Mikumi Airstrip where you will take the flight back to Zanzibar or Dar es salaam and meet your driver who will drop you to your home/hotel and this will be the end of this tour
