Neuschwanstein Castle, a world-famous fairy-tale fortress, was built in the late 19th century as King Ludwig II's dream retreat. Inspired by Wagner's operas, it features lavish rooms with murals and depictions of German legends. Highlights include the Throne Room's intricate mosaics, the Music Hall, along with its iconic towers, and views of forests, mountains, and Alpsee Lake.


Nearby, Hohenschwangau Castle, with its bright yellow exterior, stands brightly against the Bavarian landscape. Rebuilt in the 19th century by King Maximilian II, it was the childhood home of King Ludwig II. Inside, murals narrate heroic tales, and you can explore the king's quarters. The walk to Hohenschwangau is easy and offers views of the mountains and lakes.
