Highlights
Al Thakira Natural Reserve in Qatar offers an experience like no other. There's a different feel to the surroundings as you enjoy kayaking through the Mangroves of Al Thakira. In fact, Al Thakira Natural Reserve is famous for its unique fauna and one gets to see a number of migratory birds, crabs, and fishes as they kayak their way through the mangroves towards the Purple Island, fine oasis to experience kayaking in Qatar.
Itinerary
Purple Island
This is an excellent tour for all ages, including singles and families. First, we explore the Al Thakira nature reserve, an hour away from Doha. Then, during low tides, we head out to the mangrove bay and explore a large channel several kilometers from our launch site under good conditions. During higher tides, we navigate different winding channels of the Al Thakira mangroves, taking in views of wildlife, including reef egrets, terns, herons, and the occasional jumping fish. Finally, we usually stop at the local beach to relax and enjoy the surroundings.
