Begin your ride with a 20-minute warm-up out of Oaxaca city, followed by a 40-minute climb of 400 m on paved roads to reach the summit of the iconic Monte Albán ruins. Once at the top, enjoy a break with a snack and explore the ancient ruins (entry not included), taking in the stunning panoramic views of the surrounding valley. After visiting the ruins, embark on a thrilling 40-minute descent on medium-to-advanced dirt trails, featuring fast sections, loose rocks, and technical segments. Ride through agaves and trees until reaching the midpoint of your route, which leads you back toward the city, passing the historic Oaxaca trail station and the vibrant city center. For riders seeking an extra adventure, on Thursdays there’s an optional extension to Atzompa trails. This includes a 200 m climb to the Atzompa ruins, followed by longer, challenging singletracks that wind back through Oaxaca’s historic center, passing the old train station and showcasing the city’s rich culture, colorful streets, and vibrant art.
