There Apollo, the god of light, delivered his oracles through his priestess, Pythia. The Greeks addressed Apollo in every important moment of their history; they showed their gratitude by erecting great monuments along the Sacred Way heading to the god's temple. It was built by the architect Theodoros from Phokaia in Minor Asia or Phokis, who also wrote a book on it.
