The journey takes you to places of old cultural sites from the times of the Lycians, Carians, Persians, Greeks, Romans, first Christians and Seljuks. Hierapolis (ancient Greek "Holy City", occasionally Hieropolis) was an ancient Greek city in the Phrygia region in Asia Minor. Only about 5 kilometers outside of Denizli province and about 11 kilometers south of Hierapolis, a visit to the ancient city is an ideal alternative to the overcrowded Pamukkale. The river Lykus, called Çürüksu ırmak by the locals, was a tributary of the meander and formed the basis of life for the historically ancient city of Laodikeia, whose spelling also appears with Laodicea.
