It is known for its adventure sports and is a popular destination for whitewater rafting enthusiasts. The Kelani River that flows through Kitulgala offers a thrilling experience with its rapids and tides. The river has five major rapids and four minor rapids, and the entire rafting experience takes about 90 minutes to cover a distance of 6.5 km. The activity is open to anyone over the age of 10 and includes safety gear and a comprehensive safety briefing by whitewater rafting instructors.
