Enchanted by the Sintra Mountains’ microclimate and granite rocks, he purchased the monastery in 1838 and rebuilt it as a palace, showcasing Hispano-Islamic, Indo-Islamic, and Manueline styles. Important : Pena Palace is one of Portugal’s most visited monuments! During the high season, the visit is always very crowded!
