This ancient Egyptian mortuary temple, constructed for the Eighteenth Dynasty pharaoh Hatshepsut, is situated in Upper Egypt. The Colossi of Memnon, also known as el-Colossat or es-Salamat in Arabic, consist of two immense stone statues portraying Pharaoh Amenhotep III from the 18th Dynasty of ancient Egypt. These colossal figures have graced the Theban Necropolis on the west side of the River Nile, near the contemporary city of Luxor, for the last 3,400 years since 1350 BC.
