Highlights

Rarely visited by the average traveler, and certainly not on motorcycles, Punta Gallinas is considered to be one of the most exotic destinations in Colombia. From the rolling sand dunes and turquoise water to the sacred indigenous cultures. There are plenty of local attractions to keep us busy for the day. The riding today is epic. Flat out over hard, sandy plains, ducking in and out between cactus fields and rocky mountain climbs are the order of the day.

Itinerary

Santa Marta to Mayapo

  • Palomino

    Today will start with an amazing ride up the coast including a stop in at Palomino for a snack before we continue down the highway to our lunch spot.

  • Riohacha

    30 minsAdmission Ticket Free
    We will enter the city of Riohacha, capital of la Guajira department, quick stop for hidratation, cigarette and continue to the Manaure road, get into the desert

  • Playas de Mayapo

    1 hoursAdmission Ticket Free
    Get in to the desert to our hotel Wayira in a side of Mayapo beach to disconect and get ready for next day riding more deep into the wild Guajira desert

Manaure to Cabo de la Vela

  • Salinas de Manaure

    2 hoursAdmission Ticket Free
    We will have a quick breakfast at the hotel and will start the riding to the salt places in Manaure by a secret trail that we know, and also 90% probability to see flamingos really close, of course from the moto. Epic sand off road to get to Manare town to have lunch

  • Cabo de La Vela

    1 hoursAdmission Ticket Free
    riding along the ocean for the last hour into Cabo de la Vela. Once we get to Cabo, we will check into our accomodation and relax for a bit with some drinks. A little later in the day, we will get back on the bikes and explore a couple of the points of interest in Cabo including Pilon de Azucar and El Faro for sunset. Epic sand off road to get to Manare town to have lunch

Cabo de la Vela to Punta Gallinas

  • Punta Gallinas

    Admission Ticket Free
    Today we will eat some breakfast and head north towards Punta Gallinas. Some amazing riding and scenery today as we cross open desert plains and ride around some breathtaking lagoons. We will grab lunch at a local stop halfway through our riding and then continue on to El Toroa sand dunes where the dunes literally fall into the ocean. We will spend some time here, taking a dip in the ocean and then get back on the bikes to head to our next stop. The next stop will be El Faro, which is the most northern point of South America. This is a great photo op and we will relax here for a bit before heading to our lodging for the night.

Punta Gallinas to Riohacha

  • La Guajira Department

    Admission Ticket Free
    Finish off the desert riding with some more breathtaking views as we head out and back into civilization. We will spend the majority of the day riding to get back to Riohacha, where we will check into our hostel and relax by the pool. After a bit of relaxtion we will head out on the town and check out the vibrant ocean front where we will have dinner and some cocktails.

Riohacha to Santa Marta

  • Santa Marta

    Admission Ticket Free
    On our last day we will depart from Riohacha and make our way back down the coast. We will do a little offroad ride in the Sierra Nevada Mountains and stop in at a great waterfall where we can lounge around in the waterfall and do a cliff jump for those that are daring. We will head to The Journey Hostel for lunch and a swim in the pool and then jump on the bikes one last time as we head back to Santa Marta.
