The best time to visit the San Blas Islands is during the dry season from December to April when the weather is sunny and the waters are calm. The rainy season from May to November can bring heavy downpours and rough seas, making it less ideal for travel.

Getting around

Getting around the San Blas Islands is mainly done by boat, as the islands are spread out across the archipelago. Many tours and accommodations include boat transfers between the islands, or you can hire a private boat for more flexibility. Some islands are also accessible by small planes from Panama City.

Traveller tips

Make sure to pack light and bring only the essentials as space on boats and accommodations may be limited. Don't forget to bring sunscreen and insect repellent to protect yourself from the sun and bugs. Be respectful of the local Guna Yala community and their customs, such as asking for permission before taking photos.
