This is one of the last Mayan kingdoms to be conquered by the Spaniards in the year 1697. By that moment, the city of Tayasal was already full of vegetation, so the Spaniards didn´t know about it. The existence of the city was officially reported until 1965, and new discoveries have been made since then.

From there, you can see Flores Island, Lake Peten Itza, and even the Mundo Maya International Airport. Something that not many people know is that the viewpoint is actually the top of a pyramid built by the ancient Mayan King called Canek. It is now covered in vegetation and is used as a viewpoint. During your visit, we will also tell you about the kingdom of El Rey Canek and the stelae that have been found there recently. Viewing the sunset from the highest point is breathtaking.
