Excellent trip! We have chosen this small group VIP tour instead of a ‘normal’ bus tour and we were very glad we did. It costs a little bit more, but that is money very well spent! Tour guide Xem and driver Yung (I hope I spell that correctly) were already waiting for us with the limousine minivan when we walked out of our hotel. Our pick-up was at 7AM, which is early, but this helped us the whole day to beat the crowds. Xem is a tour guide for many years already, but in the van he was enthusiastically telling us everything about Vietnam’s history, as if it was his first day on the job. There is a very short commercial stop on the way, but totally no pressure to buy something. And it is a toilet stop and a drink stop at the same time. Because of our small group (only 2 hotel pick-ups) and a driver who knew the right short-cuts, we were able to arrive early at the Cu Ci tunnels, the lunch and also in the Mekong area. Xem felt perfectly how much time we liked to spend everywhere. We saw everything there was to see at Cu Chi tunnels with professional explanations by Xem. No rush, but also no time wasting. The lunch, close to the tunnels, was perfect for us: Vietnamese dishes, but exactly the dishes that we as Europeans like as well. Very tasty. In the Mekong area there was a nice combo of a river boat trip, cocos-candy factory tour, tuktuk tour, village walk, fruit tasting and a rowing boat trip through the canals. When we got back to the bus after the Mekong tour, ready for the transfer to HCMC, the big tour groups only just arrived! We were back in our hotel around 17.00, so after a very full day still plenty of time for a swim before going to dinner. Highly recommended!

Excellent tour of both the historical and cultural aspects of Vietnam, packaged together for a one day tour from HCMC. We really enjoyed the comfortable transport and the small group setting which made it productive for learning, most especially with our attentive and insightful tour guide Bunny. Highly recommended for a first timer here like me.
