Itinerary

  • 08:20

Nagoya Station (MINI STOP convenience store behind BIC CAMERA at Nagoya Station West Exit)
  • Hida Takayama Stroll through the Old Town Known as the 'Little Kyoto of Hida,' this city is famous for its well-preserved Edo-period castle town and merchant districts. Walking through the 'Sanmachi' streets, built during the Meiji and Taisho eras, feels like stepping back in time. · Hida Beef: As a representative delicacy of the Hida region, Hida beef is loved by foodies for its tender texture and rich flavor. You can enjoy various Hida beef dishes at local restaurants, with classics like charcoal-grilled Hida beef and Hida beef sukiyaki. · Takayama Ramen: Another must-try is Takayama ramen. Unlike ramen found elsewhere, it is characterized by its light, refreshing broth and delicate noodles—a unique taste worth trying. Recommended Sightseeing: Miyagawa Morning Market Spanning about 350 meters along the Miyagawa River from Kaji-bashi to Yayoi-bashi, the morning market features over 60 stalls. You will find fresh seasonal vegetables, fruits, local specialties, and various handicrafts. Look for colorful wild vegetables, assorted Japanese pickles, handmade wooden crafts, and traditional Japanese snacks like mochi and rice crackers. In addition to local Takayama crafts like Sarubobo dolls and Ichii Itto-bori carvings, chopsticks, and other Japanese trinkets, you can also enjoy snacks like pudding, taiyaki, dango, and Hida beef skewers.

  • Shirakawa-go Village - A World Heritage Site Through Time Surrounded by mountains, rice paddies, and flowing rivers, Shirakawa-go is known as a kingdom of forests and streams. The Gassho-zukuri architecture is a unique traditional Japanese wooden house style with steep roofs resembling hands pressed together in prayer, designed to withstand the pressure of heavy winter snow. This design is not only beautiful but also a wise creation adapted to the harsh natural environment. When snow covers the Gassho-zukuri roofs, it creates a dreamlike winter landscape. The village of Ogimachi in Shirakawa-go is the largest of the three World Heritage villages (Shirakawa-go, and Suganuma and Ainokura in Gokayama), consisting of 152 households. The Shirakawa-go name originates from the Shirakawa river, which flows from Mount Hakusan and turns white and murky when it meets the Sho River.
