2-Day Essential Itinerary Summary

Day 1: Mountain and Sea Sanctuary, Ancient Shrines, and Japan's Tallest
Waterfall

Depart from downtown Osaka by private car and comfortably begin your spiritual
journey.

Morning – Stop at a roadside station (Michi-no-Eki)

Shrine Visit – Visit 'Kumano Hayatama Taisha', one of the Kumano Sanzan
(20-minute stay), and admire the beautiful vermilion shrine buildings.

Seaside Hike – 'Takanozaka' ancient trail hike (120 minutes). This is one of
the very few sections of the Kumano Kodo that offers magnificent views of the
Pacific Ocean. The blue stone path is gentle and easy to walk, making every
shot look like a postcard.

Must-visit photo spot – The classic 'Kumano Nachi Taisha' and 'Nachi Falls'
(2-hour stay). Witness the spectacular view of the Three-Storied Pagoda and
Japan's tallest waterfall in one frame, and feel the sacred power of nature.

Drop-off at the pre-booked Nachi Onsen hotel, 'Kamenoi Hotel'. Rooms are based
on the number of people booked; for groups of more than 3, it is recommended

Day 2: Sacred Nakahechi Hike, Grand Torii, and Dual Pilgrim Certification

The tour guide and private car will pick you up from the hotel.

Morning – Stop at a 'Michi-no-Eki' to purchase local Japanese bento boxes and
drinking water (15-minute stay).

Classic Hike – Challenge the most famous 'Nakahechi' essential section
(Hosshinmon-oji ➔ Kumano Hongu Taisha), covering 7 kilometers in about 3
hours. Stroll through towering cedar forests, ancient villages, and lush green
tea fields, and enjoy your local bento in the embrace of the mountain forest.

Dream Realized – Arrive at the final destination, 'Kumano Hongu Taisha', for a
visit.

Afterward, head to the World Heritage Center for 'Dual Pilgrim' certification.
Simply present your stamped Kumano Kodo pilgrimage passport along with your
Camino de Santiago (Spain) pilgrimage certificate, and you will receive an
official pilgrimage certificate and a limited-edition badge on the spot!

Grand Torii – Walk to 'Oyunohara' and look up at the largest sacred torii gate
in Japan, and perhaps the world.

Onsen Foot Bath – On the way back, stop at 'Totsukawa Village' to soak your
feet in a natural volcanic foot bath to soothe them after the hike.

18:30 – Return to Osaka by private car, marking the perfect end to this soul-
cleansing 2-day pilgrimage.
