Highlights
Explore breathtaking fjord landscapes and the wildlife of the Arctic while searching for the world’s largest mammal: the whale.
In November to January, the orcas, humpback whales and other whales gather in the fjords close to Alta for their big herring-feast. These gentle giants enjoy their "food platter", and to witness this remarkable sight will give you memories for life.
And this experience does not end here. The area is also home to the Arctic dolphins, the majestic sea eagle, with a wingspan up to 2.5 metres and other seabirds - species.
We use different boats according to the size of the group and the weather conditions, but our local guide will always accompany our group. Under the boat transfer to the hot-spot and in periods when the whales are diving, you can stay inside in the warm cabin and enjoy hot chocolate and snacks.

45 minsAdmission Ticket FreeAfter pick up, our guide will take you to our office to inform you about the plans for the day and a little bit about local history and why the whales migrate into the Altafjord. Here you will also have the chance to borrow some warm outdoor clothes. You can leave your personal belongings at the office.Altafjord
3 hoursAdmission Ticket FreeAccording to where the whales are, we will start the boat tour from one of the harbours in the Altafjord. While driving by the Altafjord, our guide will tell you more about the history of this area. Also the guide will inform about the wildlife, and the types of whales we might see on the tour. You will embarque in an exciting boat tour in the Altafjord searching for wildlife and whales. We will sail for approximatelly 3 hours enjoying the fantastic fjord landscape, and hopefully find whales to observe and photograph.Alta
45 minsAdmission Ticket FreeAfter this adventure, we will drive back to our office for clothes changing and then we will take you to the same place we picked you up. The entire tour is estimated to take approx. 4,5 hours, including the transportation from your pickup place to the Altafjord and back.
