  • FirefliesThere are said to be around 2,000 species of fireflies around the world, most of which are tropical.The fireflies you can see here are scientifically called Pteroptyx Tener.Each individual has a lifespan of about three months, and generations are replaced one after another, so they can be seen all year round.


  • The mangroves along the Selangor River are thick with Sonneratia Caseolaris (a member of the family Sonnerataceae). Fireflies gather on the leaves in search of nectar from this tree, which is called Bermbang in Malay. The larvae also feed on shellfish found near the river, and fireflies only live on the banks of this type of mangrove.

Taking photos with flash is prohibited at firefly viewing spots.
During busy times, it may take some time before you can see the fireflies.
Tours may be shared with other guests.
