The cycling tour around Balik Pulau was easy and comfortable, and thankfully it wasn’t hot during the ride. Along the way, we passed palm plantations, fishing villages, fish farms, bird’s nest farms, and all sorts of tropical fruit trees. As a Singaporean, I particularly enjoyed getting a glimpse into kampung life. It’s something that used to exist in Singapore too, but is no longer part of our everyday. Eddie is knowledgeable, humorous, and generous in sharing about the local culture, history, and agriculture. He also happily volunteered to take photos for me throughout the tour. 😂 I even got lucky and had a freshly fallen durian opened for me during the ride, but that was very much an unexpected bonus! Overall, it was a refreshing way to experience a quieter, greener side of Penang and a nice break from the crowds of George Town. Highly recommend!!
