Highlights
Put some variety in your Kenya coast holiday – leave the surf for some serious land-based wildlife exploration. Tsavo East National Park is big, rugged, and filled with large game like lions, leopards, and elephants on its red dusty plains.
Nearby Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary contrasts with its green rolling hills and compact space. But the wildlife viewing is just as active here as the larger park – you’ll be looking for the big cats, plus elephant, buffalo, giraffe, zebra, gazelle, impala, over 300 species of birds, and more.

5 hoursAdmission Ticket Free3 Hour Drive Meals: Lunch & Dinner 7:00 am – We’ll start early to pack in lots of safari action on our first day. Your Africa Kenya Safaris driver/guide will swing by to start the tour. Hop into your private 4 x 4 Land Cruiser Jeep to begin your adventure along the Mombasa-Nairobi Highway. Along our route, we’ll be treated to the splendor of an African sunrise breaking over the passing fields. In about three hours we’ll arrive at Tsavo East National Park, home to the legendary Tsavo lions and herds of red-dusted elephants. Kenya’s largest park stretches out to the horizon and we’ll head over to the most active watering holes for some rich wildlife sighting. The Aruba Dam and Kanderi marshes attract great numbers of thirsty wildlife so we should spot a good variety of game. Look for eland, hartebeest, mongoose, duiker, as well as the larger species. We’ll enjoy lunch and then journey over to Taita Hills for more game viewing- AccommodationsYou’ll spend the evening either at the Taita Hills Safari Resort & Spa or the Salt Lick Safari Lodge.Food And DrinksLunchDinner

We’ll take an early game drive to watch the hills, fields, and forests come alive with light and wildlife. Then we’ll head back to our accommodation for breakfast, sharing tales of our safari sightings. Another game drive will round out the morning at this special reserve before we head back to the coast. We’ll stop for lunch on our way and arrive at the coast and Diani in the late afternoon/early evening. Who could imagine so much wildlife just a few hours from your seaside resort?
