Informative and energetic crew made the experience even better. A great introduction to the city and its history.

This is a slightly tricky review, because overall I had an enjoyable experience, but there were a few small things that detracted from what was otherwise a lovely cruise. Let me start with the positives: the staff were absolutely wonderful, and the commentary along the way was both interesting and genuinely helpful. It was a drizzly day on an open boat, but that was perfectly fine and, if anything, added a little atmosphere. Now for the small niggles. None of these were major issues in themselves, but together they did take a little away from the experience. Firstly, despite booking well in advance, I was notified a day or two before the cruise that I needed to be rebooked for a different time due to a technical issue. Secondly, the instructions advised meeting at the pier in front of the Rijksmuseum, but there are two possible meeting points, one on either side of the bridge. A simple clarification of left or right would have saved a little uncertainty. My ticket also included a complimentary drink, which was never offered. I appreciate this may seem a minor thing, but I’m not particularly comfortable having to ask for something that was already included in my booking. Finally, and this is purely an aesthetic observation, the boat we travelled on was emblazoned with Heineken branding. I found it rather tacky, and I wasn't the only passenger to comment on it. One of the reasons I chose this company was that, from its advertising, it appeared to offer something more stylish and elegant than the more commercial, tourist-oriented canal tours. Unfortunately, the beautiful boat featured in the advertising wasn't the one we travelled on. All that said, I would absolutely recommend this company. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, and the cruise itself is enjoyable. These are relatively small things, but a little more clarity around meeting points, greater attention to the included extras, and a boat that better reflects the company's advertised aesthetic would make an already good experience even better.
