The Hozu River originates from the Tamba Highlands in the central area of
Kyoto Prefecture and surrounds the mountains of Kyoto to Kameoka, then crosses
a 16km canyon, and finally flows into the Yodo River through the Kamo River.
Local boatsmen use slender bamboo poles, rudders and oars to skilfully steer

I had an amazing time on this river boat excursion in Japan! The scenery was absolutely breathtaking — lush forests, clear waters, and stunning mountain views all along the way. You have to do this activity. Catch the romantic Sagan train to Kameoka and then take this magnificent relaxing and interesting busy ride. The 3 man crew made it a pleasure with a mix of Japanese and English. Scenery is so interesting and the rapids make for a fun day
