In Trsteno, a town once populated by wealthy merchants, shipowners, and seafarers, the trees were brought from Asia Minor by Captain Florio Jakob Antunov, known as "Indian." The townspeople's care and provision for the plane trees, alongside their material legacies, have contributed to their preservation.
