This is the itinerary of medieval and romantic castles. Sintra is the first place to visit on this tour: a World Heritage Site, the capital of romanticism in Portugal, it has been the summer residence of the royal family since the 14th century. Its humid microclimate contributed to the exuberance of the vegetation, which was often praised by the romantic poets of the 19th century. 100 km north, our tour will arrive in Óbidos, a charming medieval town within walls, where we will taste the typical drink of the region, “Ginja”, served in a chocolate cup. Óbidos is the best example of a medieval city in Portugal. Arriving inside its walls, it is as if we went back in time when we find the old stone alleys, the houses with their secular facades painted in white, the always active trade, a countless number of churches built over the centuries.
