- Pick-up is at the Tongariro Shuttle Car Park, 1310 Lake Rotoaira Road, Otukou 3382, opposite Ketetahi trail road end on State Highway 46.
- From Turangi: Turn off State Highway 1 onto SH46, signposted on the right for Tongariro Shuttle Car Park.
- From National Park Village: Turn off State Highway 4 onto SH47, then onto SH46, signposted on the left for Tongariro Shuttle Car Park.
- Provide your vehicle plate number as soon as possible via WhatsApp.
- Do not use Google Maps while driving, as it may divert you away from the mountains.
- Contact the operator the night before if you have any questions.
- New Zealand’s weather is unpredictable. Check forecasts and expect four seasons in a day.
- Follow the New Zealand Department of Conservation Weather Forecasts and Mountain Safety Council’s outdoor safety code.
- Respect the environment by packing out all items you bring in.

If you're not confident about finishing the hike in time for a two way transport, this is a great option! Do contact them to let them know your vehicle no. to register for the carpark; anyway they will probably whatsapp you the day before if they didn't hear from you. The weather wasn't ideal the day we went but after checking with them that it was safe to proceed, we went ahead. They did offer an option to reschedule to the following day (with better weather forecasted) if we wanted, so that was nice. After arriving at the carpark, there will be shuttles leaving at intervals so we just joined the queue to take the next shuttle at our timing. Didn't matter which company the shuttle was from. Towards the end of the hike, we saw people sprinting, maybe to catch their transport, and were glad we didn't need to stress about that in our exhausted state!
