This mountain range extends 350 kilometers from the southeast to the northeast of Morocco. Along the way, you will admire the city of Ifrane, located at a height of 5,460 meters above sea level. This city is also known as the "Little Switzerland" of Morocco, for its architecture and for being one of the most exclusive ski resorts in the country. Azrou, a lovely city in the heart of the Atlas, is also on the road. Cross the Ziz Valley and the dramatic gorges and pass through towns like Midelt and Erfoud. The Gnawa population is a descendant of slaves from Central Africa and is famous throughout the world for its beautiful folk music that combines classical Islamic Sufism and its traditions. Then, get on a camel and return to the small town of Merzouga, where you will have breakfast and take a refreshing shower (depending on the type of camp, your breakfast and your shower could be before the camel ride). On the way back to Fez, you will stop at Tafilalt and Rissani. This last city has a fascinating past, as it was home to the Alawite dynasty.
