I did this tour with Iqbal on the half-day desert safari that starts at 3pm. Honestly given the choice between a morning and afternoon tour, I'm glad I made the decision to do the afternoon one. It started out really hot but when we ended it was sunset over the inland sea, making the experience even more magical. Iqbal was a personable guide and even better driver: that picture in this listing of the car kicking up sand as you scrabble up and down dunes in your 4x4 is not false. As this is a group tour, you do have to hang out and wait if others in your group are doing the ATV activity, but it wasn't too bad and they served a wicked chai while you're waiting. Just do note that toilet facilities out there in the desert isn't the best, so do not expect standards as high as the ones in your hotel in Doha: just grin and do your thang haha. This was a wonderful activity to do in my 20hr stopover in Doha, and I can't wait to be back in Qatar!

Mishal, our guide, was polite and accommodating. The sand dune drift driving and he gave us ample time to enjoy each of the sights. Highly recommend if you have a few hours to spare in Qatar.
