Martina Franca is one of the most important towns in the Itria Valley. It is famous for its festivals and its many buildings in Baroque and Rococo style.
The tour begins at Piazza XX Settembre and Porta Santo Stefano, then continues to Piazza Roma, where you can admire the Fountain of the Dolphins and the Palazzo Ducale, an imposing building with an elegant Baroque façade, characterized by decorated balconies and sculpted details.
Walking through the alleys of the old town, you will visit the Basilica of Saint Martino, an outstanding example of Baroque architecture, known for its richly decorated façade and sculptural details. In Piazza del Plebiscito, the monumental heart of the town, you will also find the University Palace and the evocative Clock Tower.
The tour ends with a visit to Piazza dell’Immacolata and the Chapel of Saint Nicholas of the Greeks, a small historic religious building linked to Byzantine tradition, with an intimate and evocative atmosphere.
