You found the best experience in Kyoto for families! Come visit our home and let's have an every day home-cooked meal together. When you arrive, take a load off, drink some tea, and let's chat about your trip. We will segue into food talk and then we will preview the food that we will cook together that night. After that, we'll put aprons on and gather around the kitchen counter to slice, dice, and mix up the dishes. You will learn about the staples that we have from which most Japanese dishes can be made.
We are a busy family, but we are foodies and love to open our doors to the world. So as long as you are ok with coming over to a family home and making a meal with the kids, the cat, and the dog, let's enjoy the time together.
We open our home and hearts to you, in a setting where kids, pets, and adults can relax, eat, and talk together. Step into our house on the hill and become a part of our family for the day.

What to Expect: • Explore the core staples of Japanese cooking—dashi, soy sauce, mirin, and sake—used in every family kitchen. • Hands-On Cooking: Experience how easy it is to prepare the delicious dishes Japanese families cook on an average night. Our informal, family-friendly setting ensures everyone, including kids, can participate and enjoy. • Relaxing Mealtime: After cooking, we gather around the table for a meal, sharing culture, ideas, and lively conversation. • Family-Friendly Atmosphere: Designed for all ages, our class is inclusive and perfect for families. Our kids (Clara 12yo, Anna 12yo, Leo 8yo) love to join in! • Local Connection: Immerse yourself in Kyoto’s culture, experiencing life in a typical family home, away from the city. • Interactive Experience: More than just cooking, it’s like visiting family for dinner—come relax, learn, and enjoy.
