As well as documenting the history of the Audi brand to the present day, it also houses an exclusive car showroom. The tour starts on the third floor and is divided into different time periods from 1899 to the present day. The museum houses more than 100 cars and motorcycles from all periods of the brand's history, as well as many practical multimedia aids. A unique feature is the paternoster (an open lift in constant motion), with vehicles on platforms that rotate from the upper to the lower level. It was designed to reflect the wealth and power of the city during the Renaissance. The self-image of the free imperial city of Augsburg is represented by two distinctive ornaments on the large gable on the front of the building: the first is the imperial eagle of the Holy Roman Empire, which represents the importance of the city, and the second is the large copper pine cone, or Zirbelnuss, which is the symbol of Augsburg. The interior of the town hall is also stunning, dominated by the Golden Hall with its stunningly bright gilded coffered ceiling, doors and wall frames with allegorical paintings. You will have 2 hours to explore this magnificent monument during a private day trip. Afterwards, you will have a private transfer back to Munich.
