The Pena Palace is one of the most emblematic monuments in Portugal and one of the most visited in the country. It is located in the Serra de Sintra, around 40 kilometers from Lisbon, and is a stunning example of 19th century romantic architecture. The palace was built by King Fernando II, who was a great admirer of German romantic architecture. The project was inspired by medieval castles and baroque churches, with a mix of styles that results in a unique and inimitable building.
