When to visit

The best time to visit Fuerteventura is during the spring and autumn months when the weather is warm but not too hot. Summer can be quite hot with temperatures reaching up to 30°C, while winter is mild with temperatures around 20°C. The island experiences very little rainfall throughout the year, making it a great destination for sun-seekers.

Getting around

Getting around Fuerteventura is best done by renting a car, as public transportation is limited. The island has well-maintained roads that make it easy to explore all corners of the island. Taxis are also available but can be expensive for long distances. Cycling is another popular way to get around, with many bike rental shops available.

Traveller tips

Make sure to pack sunscreen and a hat as the sun can be strong on the island. It's a good idea to book accommodation in advance, especially during peak tourist seasons. Try the local cuisine such as papas arrugadas (wrinkled potatoes) and fresh seafood. English is widely spoken in tourist areas, but it's always appreciated if you can speak a few words of Spanish. Don't forget to visit the stunning beaches on the island, such as Cofete and Sotavento.
