Rainforest Wild ASIA: A Park to Live Out Your Indiana Jones Fantasies

mandai-rainforest-wild-asia-singapore-pelago-update-lead-min

Thrill-seekers and wildlife lovers, you're in for a real treat.

Get your calendars ready and mark the date – 12th March 2025. Because that's when Rainforest Wild ASIA opens.

Mandai Wildlife Reserve's latest and fifth park is Asia's first adventure-based zoological park.

Here, fortune favours the bold.

From open-concept habitats to adventure activities, you’ll be stepping straight into an epic jungle expedition.

Minus the giant rolling boulders, of course.

Here's all you need to know about this 13-hectare park:

What to Expect at this New Adventure-Based Zoological Park

What can you expect from Mandai Wildlife Group's latest offering?

Forget typical enclosures and the usual zoo experience. This new park offers a truly immersive experience.

Visitors can stroll along elevated walkways, tackle rugged trails, or navigate past cascading waterfalls and scale rocky formations on adventure tours.

Either way, you'll get a taste of trekking through a Southeast Asian rainforest filled with wildlife.

Here’s something cool: a new flexible habitats concept.

That means animals rotate through different habitats throughout the day, so each visit feels fresh. You won’t see them in the same space over and over.

Wildlife lovers can spot 36 amazing animals, including endangered species, as well as Singapore’s newest residents like the François' langur and the Philippine spotted deer.

The park is divided into eight distinct zones, each with its own charm, all inspired by natural wonders.

From ancient rock formations to thrilling caving adventures, here’s what to expect:

Rainforest Wild ASIA Ticket Prices & Opening Dates

Exciting news. Presales for Rainforest Wild ASIA tickets are now live, and you can book for dates starting March 12, 2025!

Prices vary depending on the package, but the best part? You can snag discounts of up to 50% until April 30, 2025!

The ticket price also depends on the package you choose.

For instance, if you opt for a bundle that includes the Wild Apex Adventure, tickets start at SGD 96 (yep, that’s a discounted price too).

It all comes down to the experience you're after, so pick what suits you best. Just keep in mind that prices can change, so it’s always a good idea to double-check before you head over.

Now, why book on Pelago? Well, Kris+ members can earn 6 miles per dollar spent on Rainforest Wild ASIA bookings via the Kris+ app (this offer is valid until 28 February 2025).

And besides booking on the Kris+ app, you’ll also enjoy a super sweet 3 miles per dollar if you book on Pelago's website or app, which is perfect for anyone wanting to rack up those KrisFlyer miles!

One more thing: open-dated tickets need an advance reservation to lock in your date and time slot.

So, make sure to book your tickets at least 24 hours in advance to make sure you’re all set for your visit!

1. Entrance Gorge

You don’t have to wait long for adventure to kick in when you visit the park.

The moment you step into Rainforest Wild ASIA, you’ll be greeted by the Entrance Gorge.

And the Entrance Gorge really does put the “gorge” in gorgeous.

It’s a beautifully designed space designed to mimic a natural rainforest.

At this zone, you'll see towering emergent trees (the tallest trees that rise above the forest canopy) creating total jungle vibes. Picture standing right at a forest's edge, like you're in the Amazon or something.

But before you explore the park further, we recommend chilling out at the habitat pond first.

Here, you'll find freshwater species like the Asian arowana and Southern river terrapin.

2. The Karsts

Photo: Mandai Wildlife Group

Right after the Entrance Gorge, you’ll be greeted by some pretty cool jagged limestone formations.

That’s part of The Karsts, an open-concept habitat.

Here, you’ll get to see the François' langur – making its debut in Singapore!

These endangered monkeys have some seriously cool, Elvis-like sideburn markings. They're also super rare and agile, jumping from tree to tree with ease.

You can spot them from the Karst Lookout viewing platform.

Or, if you're feeling a bit adventurous, why not try the Karst Loop Trek? It takes you through forest trails, over boulders and logs, and beneath towering roots.

Want to level up the adventure?

Check out Wild Apex Adventure – a guided tour where you’ll climb cliffs using some high-energy scrambling paths and via ferrata.

Photo: @tshicong on Instagram

Trust us, the view of the rainforest canopy below is totally worth it.

Pro tip: Sometimes the animals can be a little shy. They roam freely in the enclosure, but if it gets too noisy, they’ll hide out.

3. The Forest Floor

Tired of crowded MRTs? Fallen trees, climbing logs, and stepping across boulders will be a welcome change of scenery.

If you're the Indiana Jones or Jumanji explorer type, you'll definitely love The Forest Floor.

Keep your eyes peeled for free-roaming mousedeer or hog deer in this rich, nutrient-dense zone.

You might also spot axis deer, elongated tortoises, and Asian brown tortoises tucked away in the forest.

And if you’re feeling adventurous, there’s plenty for you too.

Try the Root Hollow Trek through a root tunnel, or take the Forest Floor Trek, which leads you up a heritage staircase to the Rock Cascade.

Oh, and don’t worry if you prefer a smoother path with less legwork.

There are wheelchair-accessible walkways, so everyone can enjoy the rainforest at their own pace.

4. The Outpost

Photo: Mandai Wildlife Group

After all that excitement at Rainforest Wild ASIA, you’ll probably need a break.

We wouldn’t blame you if the munchies start kicking in!

That said, the next zone, The Outpost, is the perfect place to kick back and relax.

You can grab a bite and a drink at Rangers Café, rest up for a bit, then dive into the next part of your adventure.

For the hardcore nature lovers, you’ll be pleased to know that The Outpost also houses the park's camping ground with 20 dome tents, plus a classroom and shower areas too.

Perfect for a night under the stars with the animals, we’d say.

5. Rock Cascade

Photo: Mandai Wildlife Group

Next up, we’ve got the Rock Cascade, a zone packed with all kinds of vegetation, from grand old trees to bamboo groves.

Take a walk through the foliage and say hello to the park’s star – the Malayan tiger.

And let’s be honest, a big cat like the Malayan tiger deserves an A-star enclosure.

Here, you’ll find elevated walkways winding through the rainforest, giving you an amazing view of these majestic creatures.

You might catch them roaming around cascading waterfalls and rocky formations. If you’re lucky, you might even spot them splashing in streams or chilling in the shade.

Can you spot the Malayan tiger?

Pro tip: Head across the root bridge to go deeper into the habitat – you might get treated to a special view of the tiger on a rocky lookout.

What’s really cool is that the Rock Cascade has three flexible habitats.

You’ll see animals like the bearded pig, babirusa, and red dhole at different times of the day.

These rotating habitats don’t just add variety – they give you a glimpse into the natural behaviours of predator and prey, which makes every visit feel unique.

If you’re starting to feel a little hungry, pop by Sentinel Food Hall for a quick bite.

Pro tip: For the most relaxed experience, try visiting early in the morning or later in the afternoon.

6. The Canopy

Photo: Mandai Wildlife Group

Ever wondered what it’s like to live up in the trees?

Head over to The Canopy, and you’ll feel like you’re living the high life, surrounded by towering trees and a whole lot of wildlife.

In The Canopy, you’ll spot cool creatures like Javan langurs, siamang, and red-shanked douc langurs swinging from branch to branch.

And if you’re up for something fun, check out the Langur Walking Nets – 180 square metres of nets hanging way up high above the ground. It's a pretty awesome way to see the rainforest through a monkey’s eyes.

Feeling a bit daring? Take a peek down through the nets, and you might just spot the Philippine spotted deer below.

If you’re craving a little more adventure, you can add on the Wild Apex Adventure, which includes a suspended bridge crossing to the Langur Observation Deck.

It’s a special experience, so maybe treat yourself to something a little extra!

Pro tip: The Black Adventure activities take about 2–3 hours, so make sure to plan ahead and give yourself enough time to enjoy everything!

7. Watering Hole

Photo: Mandai Wildlife Group

They say bigger is better, and at the Watering Hole, that’s definitely the case!

This is Rainforest Wild ASIA's largest zone, where you can wander along elevated walkways and see how water is such a crucial part of the ecosystem.

Keep your eyes peeled. You might spot the Malayan sun bear hanging out in the trees or the Malayan tapir roaming around.

Just like the Rock Cascade, this zone has the third flexible habitat. So if you missed the red dhole, babirusa, or bearded pig earlier, you can catch them here!

For those looking for a bit more excitement, check out the Upper Stream Trek and Lower Stream Trek.

You'll be climbing over boulders, crossing suspended bridges, and hopping over fallen trees like you’re in an adventure game.

And here's the best part: one of the bridges actually hovers over the crocodile pond.

Who knows? You might even get a close-up view of the world’s largest living reptile, the estuarine crocodile, chilling just beneath the surface.

8. The Cavern

Photo: Mandai Wildlife Group

Here’s one of the coolest spots at Rainforest Wild ASIA!

Welcome to The Cavern, a 220-metre-long underground cave wonder. This zone is designed to replicate the real-life Mulu Caves in Sarawak, Malaysia, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

A team actually worked with the Sarawak Forestry Department to recreate the ancient rock formations that took millions of years to form.

From the stalagmites to the stalactites, this underground beauty feels like the real deal.

At the Oculus, a natural skylight lets sunlight pour into the cave’s dark chambers, creating a magical vibe. You’ll definitely want to snap lots of photos here!

And here’s the fun part: You can choose how “challenging” you want your experience to be. If you prefer a leisurely stroll along the safe walkways, that’s totally fine. But if you're up for a bit more adventure, there are tougher side paths, including abseiling, available in bundle packages.

Trust us, those side paths are worth it.

You might spot cool creatures like defensive snakes, glowing Asian black scorpions, Soro brook carp, and even blind cave fish.

What to Wear

With eight exciting zones to explore and activities like via ferrata climbs, comfort is key.

Believe us when we say that.

Do yourself a favour. Go for lightweight, breathable clothing and sturdy walking shoes, especially for those rainforest trails. It's always better to be prepared than not at all.

For daredevils eager to try thrilling experiences, activewear is your best bet.

Anything that lets you move freely will work great.

And don’t forget a hat and sunscreen - Singapore’s intense tropical heat can be blistering.

Insect repellent is also a must, as those pesky mosquitoes can be relentless!

Luckily, Rainforest Wild ASIA makes it super easy with digital maps.
