Enter the vast expanse of St. Peter's Square through Bernini's colonnades into Christendom's largest church resting on 800 pillars and housing 44 altars.

Former Roman temple, now a church, in Rome, Italy, on the site of an earlier temple commissioned by Marcus Agrippa during the reign of Augustus (27 BC – 14 AD). It was completed by the emperor Hadrian and probably dedicated about 126 AD. Its date of construction is uncertain, because Hadrian chose not to inscribe the new temple but rather to retain the inscription of Agrippa's older temple, which had burned down.

At the bottom of the  Spanish Steps, is one of the most famous squares in Rome It owes its name to the  Palazzo di Spagna, seat of the Embassy of Spain among the  Holy See.  The imposing 135-step staircase was inaugurated during the 1725  Jubilee; 1721–1725) and connects the Bourbon Spanish embassy (from which the square takes its name) to the Church of  Trinità dei Monti.
